It had become a part of her life because writing helped her to face her difficult and lonely times. She writes everything in diary that she named "Jimmy-Book". In contrast to Emily, her aunt, Elizabeth dislike Emily's hobby. She thinks writing just waste too much time and useless. Emily has four playmates (Teddy, Perry, Dean, Ilse) but now all her friends are going away to high school in nearby Shrewsburry. Because of that she tells her aunt that she also want to go there. Unfortunately, Aunt Elizabeth refuses her request because she worry Emily will do her mother mistakes. She will only let Emily go if she promise to stop writing. Emily is very ambitious to change her life so she does her aunt want. When she tried to keep her promise, at the same time, this is the first step in Emily's climb her success. Her poems published in town newspaper. It motivate Emily to write again. And the first whispher of romance " The woman who spangked the king " published in times magazine and bring her become a famous writer.
